The Black box ... .. site black box or real?

by The Mysterious Observer on Sep.03, 2009, under Bad

theblackbox Today they sent us (thanks to Lider1) a site for verification. This is TheBlackbox.com.mx. This entry site appears to be false, as all of Importadora Luna, where they sell phones at prices much lower than the market, but high enough to resemble the U.S. price. It has characteristics of being false:

  • Domain purchased in mid-August
  • Lack of contact information
  • Lack of information on site security

But have other data such as RFC, which can increase your reputation to us. However, our financial well-known experts in the SAT told us that the RFC is false, so this page is providing false or incomplete information and then it's a hoax.

Unless someone who lives in Monterrey confirm your address, this site is careful, do not buy anything there, and we must report it as false.

Remember, you suggest places to check for comments or sending them to the foot of the page in the contact form. Also remember, before anything suspicious, such as prices too low, or there is no way to talk on the landline to the company, but only phones, best to wait a few days to verify the site and not lose your money.

Caution ... ready on the phone!

by The Mysterious Observer on Mar.25, 2009, under Bad

Well, this is not exactly a review of any online site to buy, but a kind of caution that we must take to avoid bad times.

Just as there are hundreds of scammers internet crooks, there are also live. That is why we must be alert. Maybe you've heard of psychological kidnapping. This type of kidnapping is when you say they have kidnapped a relative but in fact they have is more, do not even know where.

Its operation is very simple: call a number offering a promotion as being of a certain company, either phones in Mexico, the CFE, or otherwise. They ask you to change data offering you something useful or necessary, and when you have taken information from your relatives end the call.

Some time after the phone call you have some unpleasant words, and I do know that they have kidnapped a relative of those mentioned, and make you give money or be killed.

You deposit money into an account and then disappear.

The first recommendation: do not give information by telephone, especially your family, a company that does not know or should know but do not know about you, and if they call you and ask you Telmex your name, well, they already must have, right?

Do not let small children answer the phone, because as the saying goes, children and drunks always tell the truth.

Instruct your family to how to answer the phone and create a "password" family that will serve to identify, in the case of being told you have a guy kidnapped, you ask family and password that you can eliminate kidnapping scams

The second: as soon as you mark hangs here in Mexico usually fail much telephony, nobody would be astonished if you are short the call. Immediately, calls from another number to your family and other family members if you do not respond, the idea is to check that your family is well.

Please have caller ID at home, does not cost much and you can help track such incidents. Even with the large number of wireless phones available, probably only need to request activation of the service.

This psychological kidnapping existed when my dad (now 60-odd) guy was under 18, and I tried to do with one of his brothers, so it's a big deal, since it still works, we can make difference.

In any case, whether false or not, remember to notify the authorities, and think well on how you respond.

In an experience that made me come, the person concerned had fun with the alleged kidnappers by giving them false information, in the end was angry, but at least I can get some laughs to the point.
